BMO Financial Group self-generates 4,300 carbon credits with Compugen

BMO Financial Group, a major North American bank, faced the challenge of responsibly managing its end-of-life IT equipment during regular technology refreshes. They partnered with vendor Compugen and its CarbonBank™ program to address the environmental, social, and economic implications of disposing of their old technology.

Compugen's solution securely decommissioned and refurbished BMO's equipment for resale, generating cash proceeds for charity and verified carbon credits. The results included donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to charitable causes, saving millions in costs, and self-generating close to 4,300 carbon credits to support the bank's carbon neutrality strategy. The program also provided a significant internal morale boost for BMO employees.
