Automating Supply Chain Metrics, Enhancing Visibility and Customer Service

Aircraft Hardware West (AHW), a global distributor of aircraft fasteners, electrical components and interior hardware, needed an automated way to report empty VMI bins at customer sites and to trigger replenishments that immediately created transactions in their ERP. Partnering with Component Control and using Quantum Control MRO & Logistics Software (including the Remote Managed Inventory and Portal modules), AHW sought real‑time visibility and automated workflows to support its growing VMI program of 5,000 bins across seven customers and multiple facilities.

Component Control delivered Quantum Control’s RMI and Portal plus a custom tablet-based mobile app and Event Manager automation: users scan empty bin IDs (with offline sync), which triggers instant orders and automated invoicing/logistics in Quantum. The implementation also added a customer web portal for real‑time bin status, stock positions and on‑demand ordering, enabling AHW to manage 5,000 bins across 10 divisions, expand VMI support (including a new Gainesville facility), streamline operations, and increase customer satisfaction and actionable analytics.
