Case Study: Bilfinger SE achieves global Microsoft license compliance with COMPAREx SAM consulting

Bilfinger SE, a global engineering and services group with around 65,000 employees across nine subgroups and more than 400 independent companies, faced the challenge of validating its Microsoft software licensing across a highly complex international IT environment. When Microsoft announced an audit, Bilfinger chose a proactive SAM compliance project instead, engaging COMPAREX for global software asset management consulting and license reconciliation.

COMPAREX carried out the project in two phases, collecting and validating both technical and commercial inventory data from around the world, including client software, servers, CALs, OEM licenses, and box products. The result was a complete Microsoft Effective License Position, giving Bilfinger global transparency over its IT assets and software contracts, supporting correct licensing across the company, and enabling a successful renegotiation of its Microsoft Enterprise Agreement.
