Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, a global logistics provider with 11,700 employees, 245 branch offices, and operations in 56 countries, needed better control over its Microsoft software licensing across a complex international IT landscape. To address this challenge, Hellmann partnered with COMPAREX to create a group-wide Microsoft license balance management process and conduct a company-wide maturity analysis according to the SAM Optimization Model (SOM) in support of SAM Certification.

COMPAREX implemented the project in two stages, starting with headquarters and European offices before extending it to the rest of Hellmann’s global sites. The result was full transparency, improved legal security, reduced over-licensing, and successful SAM Certification from Microsoft, which also suspended regular licensing audits for 12 months and positioned Hellmann to pursue annual re-certification.
