A COMPAREX Case Study

Preview of the BMW Group Case Study

BMW Group - Customer Case Study

BMW Group needed a partner to take over operational responsibility for its global server infrastructure as part of its Corporate IT “Server & Storage Operations” function. The challenge included managing thousands of Windows, Linux, and Unix servers across hundreds of locations worldwide, while coordinating changes, lifecycle management, and support under a strict SLA. COMPAREX provided global managed services and support for this environment.

COMPAREX implemented remote server operations, lifecycle management, performance monitoring, patch management, and infrastructure change coordination, supported by a team of 63 working with Matrix Technology AG for Unix/Linux. The transition was completed without incidents and finished ahead of schedule, with all Windows servers transferred earlier than planned and the overall preparation time reduced by four months. The result was reliable, around-the-clock operation for about 5,200 Windows and 3,600 Linux/Unix servers across 279 BMW locations worldwide.
