The Weitz Company Improves Access to Data with Commvault

The Weitz Company, a 164‑year‑old construction firm based in Iowa with 861 employees and 10 locations, faced the challenge of ensuring fast, reliable access to project data across data centers, cloud apps (Salesforce, Procore) and remote construction sites with limited connectivity. To avoid costly project delays and meet regulatory retention requirements, IT needed to simplify backups and protect hundreds of VMware servers and some 200 million small files spread across a hybrid environment.

Working with Eagle Technologies, Weitz deployed Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery to centralize protection from edge to cloud; data classification and DASH deduplication enabled a secondary copy of 200M sub‑4K files without excessive scanning and minimized bandwidth for remote sites, while auto‑discovery simplified VM coverage. The result: restores that take minutes instead of days, rapid remote jobsite recovery, 20‑year email retention for compliance, and reduced cost, complexity and operational risk with improved data agility.
