State of Oregon tackles backup data growth using Commvault and HPE

The State of Oregon Data Center Services (DCS) supports state, city and county agencies and faced rapidly growing backup data alongside a legacy system that lacked centralized visibility, reporting and user self‑service. DCS needed a scalable, performance‑efficient platform to provide web‑based access, monitoring and capacity planning as data demands increased.

DCS implemented Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery and Commvault HyperScale on HPE Apollo servers to deliver centralized management, native reporting and self‑service. The deployment delivered a 99.5% backup success rate, now protects about 5,000 servers and 63 PB of data with 9,000+ backup jobs daily, handled 600% data growth, expanded BaaS from 11 to 37 agencies and achieved a 9:1 deduplication ratio.
