A Commvault Case Study
St. Antonius Hospital, a major Dutch specialist in heart, lung and cancer care with three main sites, five outpatient clinics, 600 beds and 7,000 staff, needed to protect terabytes of highly sensitive patient data after the Apache Log4J vulnerability surfaced. With reduced IT staffing over the holidays and a requirement for a fast, easy-to-manage, and elastically scalable backup, the hospital sought a solution that could be implemented quickly to reduce compliance and continuity-of-care risk.
St. Antonius integrated Commvault Metallic Recovery Reserve with its existing Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery and Hitachi storage, implementing cloud backups within days—starting backups in three days and moving 30 TB in under a week—and scaling up as needed. The solution provided immutable cloud copies to meet retention requirements, required minimal additional management effort, and effectively mitigated the Log4J compliance risk while giving the hospital an easy-to-scale cloud backup capability.
