Southern Institute of Technology (SIT), a New Zealand tertiary institution with nearly 12,500 students and rapidly growing data (about 10 TB/year), faced limits with its legacy backup tool: poor visibility of data assets, long backup windows that consumed technician time, heavy reliance on tape, and increasing risk of disparate sources and potential data loss.
