Commvault archived data older than six months before migration to shrink the data footprint, kept archived content searchable and accessible via Explorer and Outlook plug‑ins, the web console or standard IMAP clients, and provided options for ongoing archiving and records retention. The approach accelerated the migration, lowered total cost of ownership, maintained end‑user access and compliance capabilities, and encouraged the vendor to expand similar projects across other government clients.
