Kum Shing Group is a Hong Kong engineering firm that provides critical energy and mobility infrastructure services to utilities, transportation and government clients, employing over 2,000 people. Faced with exponential growth in multimedia and project data, the company struggled with a time‑consuming, unreliable legacy backup system—replication across four offsite locations frequently failed and they needed a single solution to protect physical and virtual servers, Microsoft 365, and future cloud integrations.

Kum Shing deployed Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery with HPE Nimble storage, implemented with support from partner Octotech, to optimize backups and offsite replication. The new solution delivered up to 5× faster backups, 100% offsite replication success versus ~50% failure before, doubled archive copies without increasing backup duration, achieved an 88% deduplication ratio and reduced storage by more than 190 TB, and now supports the company’s roadmap for cloud and Microsoft 365 integration.
