Improve Business continuity and information compliance with Commvault

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is Scotland’s national emergency-response organisation, formed in 2013 by merging eight legacy fire services into a single body of more than 9,000 staff across 400+ locations. Faced with a Scottish Government mandate to cut costs and duplication, SFRS inherited multiple backup systems and growing email volumes that made discovery slow and increased risk of data loss, creating an urgent need for a single, compliant backup, archive and business-continuity strategy covering Exchange, SharePoint, SQL, Office and Oracle.

SFRS consolidated onto Commvault Simpana (OnePass, content indexing and search) to provide unified backup, archiving and reporting. The implementation delivered faster, near-instant email search and recovery, reduced maintenance and storage costs through deduplication and compression, met long-term retention and compliance needs, and provided reliable disaster-recovery for Active Directory and Exchange—yielding immediate ROI, scalable capacity-based licensing and a more efficient, resilient IT environment delivered on time and on budget.
