Eastar Jet, a Seoul-based low-cost airline, faced unstable legacy backup systems that couldn’t handle huge log files or sudden traffic surges from seasonal campaigns after moving to a hybrid IT environment (on-premises + AWS). The airline needed reliable, concurrent backup and recovery for both on‑premises and cloud resources, with prioritized backup cycles, verification, and alerting to ensure business continuity.

Eastar Jet implemented Commvault’s integrated data management (backup/recovery, deduplication, email archiving, virtual server protection and disaster recovery) to provide a single management point across hybrid infrastructure. Deployed in 2016 across about 130 servers (two‑thirds now backed up), the solution improved compression and transfer performance, simplified administration, delivered reliable alerts, scaled with demand, reduced costs, and strengthened data protection and compliance for certification.
