Commvault helped the College of the Holy Cross replace a discontinued backup product and move away from costly on‑premises tape drives. The college needed a solution that would work across many operating systems (multiple Windows Server and Linux versions, macOS, NetIQ, NAS) and allow direct backups to Amazon Web Services, including Amazon S3 and S3 Glacier.

Commvault implemented an automated data‑push and storage strategy that creates auxiliary cloud copies on Amazon S3 and S3 Glacier while continuing to support the college’s existing tape workflows. The result was simplified, cross‑platform backup management, reduced reliance on tape, and measurable savings and efficiency from using AWS cloud storage.
