Clal Insurance improves efficiency and lowers costs with Commvault

Clal Insurance, one of Israel’s largest insurers with a 14% market share and over NIS220 billion in assets under management, faced growing data-management challenges: more than 2 PB of retained data across SQL, Oracle Exadata and a 2,500-VM VMware private cloud, slow developer restores (up to three hours), legacy Veritas/EMC backups with no cloud integration, and a need to simplify infrastructure and avoid vendor lock-in ahead of CRM cloud migration.

Clal deployed Commvault Complete Data Protection with NetApp storage and partner Emet Barmor to deliver a single, self-service backup platform. The rollout cut disk cost per terabyte by about 70%, enabled immediate developer restores, sped regulatory audit reporting, protected the full 2 PB estate, and provided a unified console to manage on-premises and future cloud backups.
