BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP, the Los Angeles–based fashion house founded by Max Azria, faced rapidly expanding storage demands as design and photography files proliferated across a growing user base. The IT team saw storage needs double, struggled with an unreliable EMC Networker platform that couldn’t reliably back up Exchange, endured long tape windows and slow restores, and needed a way to reduce tape use, extend retention and protect large NAS-based assets via NDMP.

BCBG implemented CommVault Simpana with a deduplication appliance and later leveraged Simpana’s NDMP support to back up BlueArc NAS to an upgraded LTO‑4 library. The centralized, policy-driven solution now protects about 52 TB of data, cut full tape backup windows from six days to eight hours, reduced daily admin time from six hours to under one, enabled the team to protect twice as much data with the same staff, and delivers fast, reliable restores (typically under 10 minutes).
