Case Study: BAM Group Ireland achieves consolidated, scalable data protection and reduced risk with Commvault

A Commvault Case Study

Preview of the BAM Group Ireland Case Study

BAM Group Ireland Builds For Tomorrow With Commvault's Advance Deduplication, Virtulization and Archive Technologies

BAM Group Ireland, a Kildare‑based construction and civil engineering firm of about 700 employees, was grappling with rapid data growth driven by BIM adoption, a mobile workforce and new facilities‑management contracts that require up to 25‑year retention. The company relied on disparate backup and archive tools, had no formal retention policies, and faced scalability, storage‑cost and data‑loss risks while remote sites were managed outside IT.

BAM consolidated IT and deployed Commvault Simpana with a virtualised, mirrored environment to provide a single backup-and-archive platform, deduplication, ContentStore archiving and content indexing. The change shortened backup windows, delivered 50–80% deduplication (12TB used of 37TB capacity), enabled business‑specific retention policies, improved disaster recovery and manageability, and delivered around 20% projected annual cost savings while supporting future BIM and business growth.
