Improving Efficiency at South Lanarkshire Council

South Lanarkshire Council, one of Scotland’s largest councils, needed a more efficient way to manage its Home Care service for over 1,000 carers. Working with CommonTime, the council looked to replace paper-based schedules and manual data entry with a mobile social care solution that could streamline appointment allocation, improve communication, and support staff in serving an aging population.

CommonTime helped South Lanarkshire Council develop a Home Carer mobile app in under six months, including digital scheduling, electronic forms, and integration with the council’s Oracle systems for service user preferences and risk assessments. The result was improved service capacity, live appointment tracking from 1,000 carers completing around 30,000 appointments each week, and a platform that is now being extended to Roads and Transportation Services, with further efficiency gains expected.
