Welsh Government - Customer Case Study

The Welsh Government faced the challenge of engaging communities across Wales to fulfill its Active Travel Act requirements, needing a way to gather public input on walking and cycling infrastructure, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. They partnered with Commonplace to utilize its digital engagement platform, which provided tools like the Heatmap for gathering localized feedback and supported the Welsh language to ensure inclusive, statutory consultations for all local authorities.

Commonplace enabled a successful three-phase consultation process for 17 local authorities, allowing them to understand community sentiment, refine proposals, and finalize their statutory Active Travel Network Maps. This solution fostered continuous, transparent dialogue, leading to the official approval of the maps and ensuring the new active travel routes were directly shaped by extensive input from local communities.
