Using social media to boost Levelling Up engagement in Doncaster

Doncaster Council worked with Commonplace to support its bid for Government Levelling Up Funds, needing to quickly inform residents and gather wide-scale feedback to show strong public engagement. For its second round bid in 2022, the council again used Commonplace, this time adding its Social Promotion package to reach communities in Doncaster North and Edlington within a short timeframe.

Commonplace created and managed a targeted Facebook and Instagram campaign, while also setting up the engagement site to convert traffic into contributions. In two weeks, Commonplace drove 6,764 additional visits, 363 contributions, and 723 newsletter subscriptions, with a 5.4% conversion rate that outperformed the industry average of 4%; the campaign helped Doncaster Council gather over 2,000 total responses to inform its Levelling Up plans.
