A Commonplace Case Study
London Borough of Lewisham needed an effective way to understand how residents and visitors felt about Catford and what they wanted to see improved, while also preparing the community for long-term regeneration. They turned to Commonplace and its online community engagement platform to support pre-planning consultation and help build local identity ahead of appointing master planners.
Commonplace implemented a digital engagement hub, including a heatmap, news updates, and feedback collection, which Lewisham used alongside local events and social media to keep people involved over 18 months. The results were strong: nearly 23,000 unique visitors, 14,000 engaged users, 1,600 respondents, and 12,500 total contributions, helping Lewisham earn recognition in the Building London Planning Awards 2020 for its community engagement approach.
