Engaging the community in the regeneration of Stoke Wharf

Muse Developments, a leading UK mixed-use developer, faced the challenge of engaging a diverse local community to inform its regeneration plans for the neglected Stoke Wharf site in Slough. The goal was to center local needs within the design proposals for the new residential and commercial development, ensuring the final project was inclusive and had public support. To achieve this, they partnered with the vendor Commonplace to implement an online consultation strategy.

Using the Commonplace digital platform, an online public consultation was launched to facilitate a two-way dialogue with the community. This strategy, supported by face-to-face engagements, gathered over 350 contributions from more than 2,300 site visitors. The feedback was processed and directly used to revise the designs, which were then welcomed by the community with 71% of subsequent comments being positive. Commonplace provided the robust data and analytics needed to support a successful planning submission, allowing the project to move forward.
