A Commerce Bancshares Case Study
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City, a non-profit youth mentoring organization, needed to be good stewards of its funds and sought to reduce costs associated with collecting donation pledges. Their initial challenge was finding a bank that could provide low lockbox fees. This led them to begin their relationship with Commerce Bank in 1996.
Commerce Bank provided a comprehensive financial solution that evolved from lockbox services to include a line of credit, term loans, merchant services, and operating accounts. This support, including financing for a $3.5 million headquarters acquisition and renovation, enabled the organization to improve its financial position. As a result, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City became the fastest-growing chapter in the country, serving 1,800 children a year—a 75% increase since 2008—while also establishing a three-month cash reserve.
