Youngstown State University partnered with Comcast Spotlight to strengthen its position as a university of choice and expand recruitment beyond its traditional area. The university’s challenge was to reach prospective students and their parents in western Pennsylvania and northeastern Ohio across multiple screens, while building awareness and interest among college-bound audiences.
Comcast Spotlight developed a targeted TV and digital campaign using youth-oriented networks for students, broader family/influence networks for adults, and in-banner video on XFINITY.com to keep messaging consistent and drive traffic to YSU’s website. The effort delivered measurable gains, including a 10% year-over-year increase in applications, a 33% increase in accepted students from the target area, a 56% increase in visits to the application page, and a 33% increase in unique website visits.
