The Washington Nationals, playing to a playoff-winning season at the 41,471-seat Nationals Park, faced a sudden surge in fan and media demand that overwhelmed their existing 50 Mbps connection. With growing Wi‑Fi use, a larger media contingent, and plans for new Internet-driven fan services (like in-seat ordering) the team needed a reliable, high‑speed connection and a fast, seamless service turn-up ahead of postseason play.
The club selected Comcast Business Ethernet and had a fiber-based 1 Gbps dedicated Internet line installed in under 30 days, plus a separate link for stadium operations. The upgrade delivered about 20× the previous speed, ensured network availability, enabled HD video-board feeds, supported thousands of mobile orders, sped remote data backups, and allowed the Nationals to launch new services and maintain business continuity.
