Springfield Public Schools Expand Digital Learning Initiatives with Gigabit Ethernet Services from Comcast Business

Springfield Public Schools, a northern New Jersey district serving more than 2,400 students with 1:1 devices in upper grades and laptops/tablets in early classrooms, was outgrowing its 100 Mbps Internet connection. With enrollment rising and increasing use of online apps, video and virtual learning, administrators needed a scalable, higher-capacity service to support more tablets, uninterrupted streaming, and offsite data backups.

The district upgraded to Comcast Business Ethernet Dedicated Internet — a fiber-based 1 Gbps Gigabit connection with the ability to scale to 10 Gbps — boosting bandwidth tenfold. The new service supports hundreds of tablets and more than 1,000 computers simultaneously, enables seamless video and virtual-learning use, fully supports offsite SIS and email backups, and positions the district to expand digital initiatives toward a near-paperless environment.
