A Comcast Business Case Study
Ogden City, a growing historic municipality in northern Utah that manages 18 public locations and serves more than 80,000 residents (ranked No. 11 on Forbes’ Best Places for Business in 2014), was constrained by legacy T1 lines totaling 10 Mbps. That limited bandwidth caused communication lag for police and fire responders, interrupted emergency call delivery in brick-walled fire bays, and slowed routine city operations during high-traffic events.
The city deployed Comcast Business Ethernet Dedicated Internet (two 100 Mbps circuits to city hall and public safety headquarters) and Comcast Business Ethernet Network Service to connect 16 additional sites with direct, redundant links. The high-performance network eliminated latency for first responders, enabled reliable public Wi‑Fi, supports GIS mapping and planned 300–400 camera surveillance, and provides scalable, temporary connectivity for seasonal locations—improving public safety and overall municipal efficiency.
