Lincoln Intermediate Unit Puts Southern Pennsylvania Schools on the Fast Track with Comcast Business Ethernet

Lincoln Intermediate Unit (IU), founded in 1970, provides education and technology resources to about 96,000 students and teachers across 25 school districts and other institutions in York, Franklin and Adams counties. The IU’s existing network and Internet access could not cost‑effectively scale to meet growing demand for hosted IT, online learning, video conferencing and cloud services for its member districts.

Lincoln IU implemented Comcast Business Ethernet Network Service, Ethernet Dedicated Internet and Ethernet Private Line to connect 44 sites with links from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps and two 1 Gbps Internet feeds. The upgrade delivered scalable, high‑performance connectivity that enabled cloud computing, video conferencing and online course management, and added remote data replication and disaster‑recovery capabilities for member schools.
