Flexible Networking Solution Supports Current and Future Medical Technologies

Upper Chesapeake Health, a not-for-profit, community-based two-hospital system in northeastern Maryland, needed a reliable, secure and scalable network to support digital imaging, electronic medical records and external communications with partners. Their existing T1 bundle lacked the bandwidth required for current workflows and future technologies, creating an urgent need for higher-capacity connectivity.

They implemented Comcast Business Ethernet Network Service and Comcast Business Ethernet Dedicated Internet to link facilities at up to 1 Gbps with a redundant, secure configuration. The new solution delivered sustained uptime, scalable bandwidth to support a shared electronic medical record with the University of Maryland and safe transfer of patient data, and it enabled future patient-facing services such as online personal health records.
