Eastern Bank Counts On Comcast for Quick Customer Access to Banking Services

Eastern Bank, the largest independent mutually owned bank in New England, needed a secure, reliable and flexible network architecture to give customers quick access to branches, its call center, ATMs and online/mobile banking. Its legacy SONET network was stable but lacked the bandwidth and agility to support new transport mechanisms, converged services and the demands of growth, mergers and emerging applications.

Eastern Bank deployed Comcast Business Ethernet Network Service and Comcast Business Ethernet Dedicated Internet to provide secure VPNs, greater redundancy and scalable bandwidth (about nine times the SONET capacity). The Comcast solution improved access and QoS for customers and employees, protected financial data, supported unified communications and saved the bank roughly $115,000 per year in combined service costs.
