Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries Informs and Protects Detroit Homeless with Help of Comcast Business

Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM) is a Detroit-based, faith‑based nonprofit founded in 1909 that operates 15 locations and serves about 1,800 people daily, offering shelter, treatment programs and computer labs to help homeless patrons find jobs and housing. DRMM’s legacy 1.5 Mbps T1/DSL connections couldn’t support its IP video surveillance or provide reliable Internet for job searches, homework and interview preparation, undermining its efforts to help clients regain stability.

DRMM deployed Comcast Business Internet, VoiceEdge cloud phone service and Comcast Business TV at 12 sites, increasing speeds to 16–150 Mbps and replacing aging phone systems. The upgrades delivered scalable, cost‑effective bandwidth that improved video surveillance quality, sped up computer‑lab access for patrons, enabled seamless inter-site calling, and provided news/ information via TV across multiple locations.
