A Comcast Business Case Study
Cumberland County Library System (CCLS) serves more than 110,000 patrons across nine locations in southern Pennsylvania and depends heavily on digital services—online catalogs, downloadable e-books and audiobooks, and 300 public computers. Slow network connectivity (as low as 3 Mbps at branches and 6 Mbps at headquarters) was constraining patrons’ ability to upload/download large files and preventing staff from sharing large files, conducting online training, and offering new digital services.
CCLS deployed Comcast Business Ethernet Network Service and Comcast Business Ethernet Dedicated Internet, creating a fully meshed WAN with a 1 Gbps Internet link at headquarters, 100 Mbps links to each library, and additional capacity to the county courthouse. The upgrade delivered scalable bandwidth, faster patron access, improved staff productivity and training, support for off-site data backups, and the capacity to introduce new services such as video conferencing and expanded digital offerings.
