A Comcast Business Case Study
Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office, which protects 15 communities across roughly 1,300 square miles of Cape Cod, faced slow, unreliable communications that relied on T1/copper lines, phone calls and hand-delivered files. Those limitations wasted staff time, hindered information sharing among a jail, dispatch, technical support and mobile units, and reduced responsiveness for about 400 network users and seasonal surges in population.
Comcast deployed a Premium Ethernet Virtual Private Line hub and Ethernet Dedicated Internet (Metro Ethernet) to link three dispersed locations with high-volume, secure bandwidth. The upgrade sped communications to officers and partner agencies (including mobile devices and MIDNET), enabled remote IT support, cut travel and delays, and improved overall operations, investigations and responsiveness.
