Comcast Metro Ethernet Supports Leadership in Innovative Learning for Forsyth County School District

Forsyth County Schools, a top‑ten Georgia district serving about 37,000 students and adding roughly 1,200 pupils a year, needed to maintain high academic standards while supporting “digital native” learners and a growing Bring‑Your‑Own‑Technology population. The district’s challenge was to provide industrial‑scale, reliable bandwidth to handle heavy in‑school and after‑school network use, enable individualized digital learning, and keep costs aligned with classroom priorities.

Comcast’s Wide Area Network and Ethernet Dedicated Internet delivered secure, point‑to‑point connectivity linking schools, administrative centers and students working from home, supporting interactive whiteboards, BYOT and centralized file sharing. The result was rapid, on‑demand scalability; greater learning flexibility and parental involvement; measurable “return on learning”; and substantial cost savings—textbook spending fell from $2.8 million to $400,000.
