A Comcast Business Case Study
The City of West Haven, Connecticut (pop. ~55,500) faced an aging late‑1990s phone system and a patchwork of low‑speed T1 and DSL links that limited public safety reporting, beach surveillance, library Wi‑Fi and everyday municipal operations across 17 sites. City leaders needed faster, more reliable voice and data connections to improve emergency response, video transfer from shoreline cameras, and citizen access to services.
West Haven selected Comcast Business to provide fiber‑based Ethernet (10–20 Mbps ENS links and a 20 Mbps Dedicated Internet) and PRI trunks, later adding six firehouses and three libraries. The deployment connected City Hall to 17 municipal locations with dependable, scalable bandwidth, enabling reliable reverse‑911 and beach camera feeds, faster response times, improved call handling at fire and municipal offices, and better Internet access for library visitors.
