A Comarch Case Study
Ahold Back Office Services (ABOS), the Central European accounting centre for Ahold, faced a fragmented, paper-based invoice process across Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia with no IT system to manage document circulation. To centralize processing, speed capture and archiving of large invoice volumes and reduce handling costs, ABOS engaged Comarch to deliver an Enterprise Content Management solution (Comarch ECM).
Comarch implemented Comarch ECM with scanning and archiving, electronic invoice and paper workflow, a FileNet image archive, Active Directory synchronization, integrations with PeopleSoft, LotusNotes, GOLD and EDI, plus logistics for collecting, scanning and destroying paper. The solution automated workflows and reporting, standardized procedures and improved security, enabling ABOS to process roughly 264,520 documents per month (about 200,000 invoices monthly per Ahold), reduce cycle time and costs, lower manual processing headcount, and move toward a paper‑less operation.
