CIMD migrates contingency data centre in 3 months with Colt

CIMD, a diversified financial group and member of multiple European stock exchanges, faced the urgent challenge of migrating its critical contingency data center within a strict three-month timeframe. This was necessitated when their previous host, the Spanish Stock Exchange (BME), ended its service. CIMD needed to complete this migration with minimal service interruption and while maintaining high connectivity and data synchronicity. They engaged vendor Colt Technology Services to implement a solution.

Colt provided a colocation hosting solution through its partnership with Equinix, making CIMD the first customer in Southern Europe to use this joint service. The solution included secure hosting at the Equinix Madrid center and two protected 1 Gbps Ethernet lines. Colt successfully executed the rapid migration, ensuring minimal downtime and guaranteeing the continuity of CIMD's synchronous information backup. The solution also maintained CIMD's requirement for a neutral data center model without a captive relationship to a single provider, providing flexibility for future growth.
