Case Study: Great Plains Communications achieves expanded Minnesota reach and low-latency carrier connectivity with Cologix

A Cologix Case Study

Preview of the Great Plains Communications Case Study

Through the Upper Midwest carrier hotel’s extensive network density, Great Plains Communications meets unbridled demand for connectivity into an edge market

Great Plains Communications (GPC), the largest independent telecommunications provider in Nebraska with more than 5,000 miles of fiber and service to almost 100 communities, needed a centralized Minneapolis point of presence to expand into Minnesota. The company required a carrier-hotel data center that offered low-latency, high-bandwidth fiber access, 24/7 secure access and responsive technical support. To meet those needs GPC targeted Cologix’s MIN 3 data center in downtown Minneapolis as the ideal colocation and interconnection solution.

Cologix deployed a network extension node for GPC in the MIN 3 facility, providing direct access to 75+ unique networks via its Meet‑Me‑Room, Cologix Remote Hands support, and 24/7 secure operations (CCTV, mantrap, biometric entry). As a result, Great Plains Communications extended its reach into Minnesota to deliver low-latency, high-bandwidth services, rapidly interconnect with regional carriers, and leverage its 5,000-mile fiber footprint to serve new multi-state and enterprise customers—gaining measurable access to 75+ carriers and improved operational responsiveness through Cologix.
