Case Study: British Columbia Securities Commission achieves resilient, secure and cost-effective colocation with Cologix

A Cologix Case Study

Preview of the British Columbia Securities Commission Case Study

The British Columbia Securities Commission gained the resiliency, security & costeffectiveness of colocation while averting a costly technology refresh

The British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) faced a looming, costly refresh of its on‑premises server room and issued an RFP for a downtown Vancouver colocation to gain resiliency, security and cost‑effectiveness. After evaluating options, BCSC selected Cologix for colocation in Cologix’s downtown Vancouver data centre (VAN 2 at 1050 West Pender) to meet requirements for redundant power, seismic and flood reinforcement, strict security and a 99.9% availability SLA.

Cologix delivered a cost‑effective colocation solution with redundant power/cooling, carrier cross‑connects, wider cabinets and pre‑cabling, and facilitated a smooth 24‑hour “hot cut” migration (systems re‑racked, connected and tested by 5 p.m. the next day). The move avoided a large technology refresh (UPS, HVAC, generators), reduced operational risk, freed BCSC staff and budget to focus on their core mission, and provided a future‑proof network and ongoing facility upgrades — all achieved with Cologix as the provider.
