Case Study: Minnesota VoIP achieves expanded network reach and reduced last-mile costs with Cologix

A Cologix Case Study

Preview of the Minnesota VoIP Case Study

Instead of investing heavily in last mile infrastructure, Minnesota VoIP capitalized on data center services to cost-effectively expand their customer & network reach

Minnesota VoIP, a niche VoIP provider offering hands-on data and voice services, was outgrowing its infrastructure and faced high last-mile costs, limited local peering, and the need for scalable, redundant downtown Minneapolis capacity and MICE access. To gain direct network connections and avoid expensive circuits and backhauling, Minnesota VoIP turned to Cologix and deployed colocation in Cologix’s downtown Minneapolis data center in the 511 Building.

Cologix provided scalable colocation with A/B power redundancy, two-factor access, 24/7 on-site staff, and deep interconnectivity (eight cross-connects in two cabinets and access to ~80 carriers in the building plus the Midwest Internet Cooperative Exchange). As a result, Minnesota VoIP avoided last-mile expenses, gained one MICE interconnection to reach 45+ members, improved localized performance and reliability, realized cost savings, and reported stronger customer retention and smoother expansion plans thanks to Cologix’s facilities and support.
