Western Governors University (WGU), a U.S.-based online nonprofit university, wanted to make education more personalized and improve student outcomes through data, but its information was trapped in departmental silos and was difficult to find, understand, and trust. With Collibra, WGU created a single source of truth for enterprise metadata, linking technical, business, and governance context across more than 850,000 assets and 1,400 business glossary terms. The result was a major productivity boost: data curation and governance time dropped from weeks to seconds, users could find and trust data much faster, and teams could more easily support analytics, reporting, and personalized learning initiatives.
