Collibra improves customer engagement for European DIY retailer Kingfisher

Kingfisher, the European DIY and home improvement retailer with 1,900+ stores across eight countries, needed a better way to govern and share data across a complex, multi-business organization. As it expanded AI, ML, personalization, and customer engagement initiatives, the company found that critical business knowledge was trapped in hundreds of spreadsheets and siloed across teams. Collibra helped Kingfisher address the challenge by providing a central data governance platform.

Collibra implemented its cloud-based Collibra Platform, including Collibra Data Catalog and Collibra Data Lineage, to unify forty siloed glossaries into a single business glossary with more than 4,000 KPIs, terms, and definitions. Kingfisher also integrated spreadsheet metadata into Collibra and connected it with Azure Data Platform, with planned integrations to Databricks and Power BI. As a result, 750 analysts currently use the platform, the company has established a single source of truth, and Kingfisher can roll out standardized yet localized data practices faster and more efficiently to support better customer experiences.
