AXA XL builds a data culture through governance

AXA XL, the property & casualty and specialty risk division of AXA, faced the challenge of improving data transparency and trust across its business users — from operations and analysts to legal and compliance — so they could find, understand and self-serve on data while meeting regulatory requirements like GDPR. To address this, AXA XL selected Collibra’s cloud-based data governance product, including the Business Glossary, to drive a business-led data governance program.

Collibra implemented a Data Governance Center of Excellence that unifies the Data Catalog, Data Quality and business terminology into a single view, giving users direct access from dashboards to lineage, definitions, metadata, ownership and data quality scores. The result is a one‑stop shop that increased user trust and self-service (eliminating the “middleman”), improved collaboration with data owners, and made it easier to demonstrate policy and regulatory compliance; AXA XL is now extending the platform with Collibra Connect and role‑based access plans.
