True Value, a Chicago-based retail cooperative serving nearly 5,000 independent stores, needed to raise IT maturity, cut costs and improve compliance. The IT team, led by John Dolce, faced fragmented and costly legacy SCM and defect-tracking tools, more than 300 code repositories to consolidate, auditor visibility requirements, and a mandate to use an open-source solution that would support vendor collaboration and automated approval tracking.

They standardized on CollabNet’s certified Subversion binaries and the TeamForge ALM platform, migrating the majority of repositories and adding role-based access, automated workflows, approval alerts and project-level reporting. The result was centralized code and assets, simplified approval tracking and better QA alerts, improved SDLC visibility and traceability, reduced tool spend and increased development efficiency.
