Philips Medical Systems, a global leader in medical imaging, needed to better coordinate development of its shared Medical Imaging Platform (MIP). The MIP team historically delivered compiled binaries to many product groups, which created rigid schedules, inconsistent development practices across business lines, limited patching flexibility, and poor cross-team visibility for distributed teams.

Philips adopted an internal open‑source approach and deployed CollabNet TeamForge as a managed service (with Subversion, mailing lists and community support) to provide a common, secure development platform. Today more than 25 engineering groups across 10+ business lines on three continents use TeamForge, resulting in higher development efficiency, greater product similarity and quality, faster time‑to‑market, and improved security and availability.
