A CollabNet VersionOne Case Study
ADVA Optical Networking, a global leader in Optical + Ethernet transport with roughly 1,000 employees and about 200 distributed software engineers, struggled with fragmented development tools and processes following rapid growth and acquisitions. Disparate version control, defect tracking and code storage practices hampered collaboration, traceability and increased maintenance and training costs, so the company needed a single, globally accessible platform with integrated version control, defect tracking and a central repository.
After a six-month pilot, ADVA migrated major projects to CollabNet’s ALM (built on Subversion), gaining an integrated, web-based suite that tied defects to source code, supported in‑house and third‑party tool integrations, and added virtual lab management for builds and testing. The deployment unified development teams around a central repository, increased engineer productivity, simplified data storage, reduced IT overhead, improved process metrics and helped accelerate time to market.
