Imperva, a company using IBM z/OS for data security development, needed a better way to test and debug mission-critical software and diagnose problems in its test system. Kevin Pintar, a developer on the z/OS Agent for Data Security, had long used ColeSoft Marketing’s XDC to support this work and was evaluating the beta version of dump/XDC.

ColeSoft Marketing’s dump/XDC added source mapping and data mapping while processing dumps in IPCS, letting Imperva inspect source code and registers directly instead of switching between listings and hex dumps. The result was immediate troubleshooting value, improved debugging efficiency, and the potential to build REXX-based dump analysis routines that could significantly reduce problem resolution times.
