Case Study: XO Communications achieves 60% TCO reduction and simplified secondary storage with Cohesity

A Cohesity Case Study

Preview of the XO Communications Case Study

XO Communications, a Verizon Company Simplifies its Secondary Storage with Cohesity, While Reducing Their TCO by 60%

XO Communications, a Verizon Company that runs one of the largest IP and Ethernet networks across the U.S. and in over 50 countries, was struggling with rapidly growing secondary data from three‑year retention requirements, eight data centers, three vCenters and 1,200+ physical servers being virtualized. Faced with the prospect of deploying rows of racks and hiring 5–6 additional admins, XO needed an easy‑to‑manage, scale‑out secondary storage solution that would meet compliance, scale with demand, and lower total cost of ownership.

Following a proof‑of‑concept, XO deployed Cohesity’s scale‑out hyperconverged secondary storage (C2300/C2500 with DataProtect), which delivered 100 TB per 2U appliance, VM cloning/run capabilities for test/dev, and centralized management. The solution reduced data center footprint and staffing needs, lowered power/cooling and hardware costs, simplified operations, and cut TCO by 60%, delivering a substantial ROI.
