Wendy’s Deploys Modern, Web-Scale Backup and Recovery with Cohesity

Wendy’s, the fast‑food chain founded in 1969, operates two datacenters and manages about 1PB of data across a largely virtual environment (~90% virtual, ~1,000 VMs). Its legacy backup stack—Commvault, EqualLogic, NetApp and Veeam—had become complex and fragile, once requiring over a week to recover from a primary storage failure and a full‑time staffer just to troubleshoot backups.

After a three‑month PoC with partner Computacenter, Wendy’s deployed Cohesity across its environment (about 850 servers and 700+ VMs). Cohesity cut backup windows from 12 to 2 hours, delivered 18x data reduction (171TB backed up on 300TB raw), freed more than 15 staff hours per week, eliminated a dedicated troubleshooter, provided single‑pane management and instant mass restore, and enabled future cloud expansion to Azure/AWS.
