A Cohesity Case Study
The University of Lausanne, a centuries‑old institution with seven faculties, ~15,000 students and more than 22 PB of logical data, needed a modern, hyperconverged backup solution to protect its virtual infrastructure. The existing system at the Neuchâtel site had to be redesigned to support agentless integration with VMware/Avamar while meeting strict encryption, cloud tiering, disaster recovery and Dell EMC NetWorker compatibility requirements.
Infoniqa implemented the Cohesity DataPlatform in an appliance cluster (four appliances totaling 14 active nodes with reserve slots), integrating quickly after a successful PoC. The university gained 126× more logical data capacity versus the prior backup, faster backups (Exchange full backup cut from 29 to 8 hours and incremental from ~8 to 2 hours), much faster parallel restores with SnapTree, improved RTOs, stronger encryption, cost savings and straightforward scalability including hybrid cloud options.
